Mark Austin, Director
Mark has 30 years of corporate experience enabling people – as an employee, board member and specialist. He built his career at Kier – a FTSE 250 construction company – working his way up from their apprenticeship programme to Divisional, Operations and Innovation Director roles.
A strategic thinker, Mark is skilled at connecting the dots and a great advocate for the role of learning and development. He has a wealth of experience managing complex change and transformation.
His career highlights include:
- Developing an in-house NVQ centre
- Setting up the degree programme with Sheffield Hallam University
- Setting up the UK’s first ILM qualification in the industry for supervisors
- Participant in the East Sussex Skills Taskforce (2017 to 2019)
- 10 years of engagement with the local school as a STEM ambassador
- A Foundation degree student and CIOB mentor
- High Speed 1, Devonport, Crossrail, Deephams STW
Mark brings a passion for helping others that’s rooted in his own experience of working within an industry that can feel, at times, relentless. It’s not come without a few bumps in the road, and after suffering from anxiety, Mark found balance in focussing on his other great passion – woodwork.
Through lived experience, Mark is an ambassador for wellbeing and believes in leaving teams stronger and more resilient.
